Join us for a presentation about using literature and bibliotherapy to better educate ourselves and introduce sensitive topics to students. This session will focus on discussing race, sexual orientation, and gender identity. It is our responsibility as educators to help our students feel seen, heard, and respected. That can start in elementary school with the introduction to well written titles on difficult subjects, personal exploration into the history of teachers and librarians as change makers, and using our privilege as educators to provide those ever-present windows and mirrors in our displays and read alouds.
